Enzoclean at Bhandewadi Dump Yard, Nagpur
8-day controlled demonstration on a live 1,000+ tonne / day municipal dump yard.
The site, the challenge.
The Bhandewadi Dump Yard receives more than 1,000 tonnes of mixed municipal garbage every day. Severe odour, fire risk, fly infestation and slow decomposition affect surrounding communities and the environment. This case study documents an 8-day controlled demonstration of Enzoclean — applied in both Liquid and Powder formats on the same heap — with measurements recorded daily and independently lab-tested.
Severe persistent odour
Hydrogen sulphide and ammonia from decomposing organic matter affected surrounding residential areas and workers.
Fire risk from elevated temperature
Methane and other gases from anaerobic decomposition increase internal pile temperature, creating spontaneous combustion risk.
Flies and insect infestation
Unmanaged organic waste provides ideal breeding conditions for flies, mosquitoes and other disease vectors.
Slow natural decomposition
Unassisted decomposition is slow — pile height stays high, reducing the effective lifespan of the dump yard.
Community and environmental impact
Odour, leachate and vermin affect surrounding communities and the water table.

Day-by-day measurements — 8 days.
Pile height, internal temperature, lab-tested gas concentrations. Toggle between the Liquid and Powder formats to compare performance.
Pile Height (inches)
Lower is better — measures decomposition
Internal Temperature (°C)
Rising temperature = active biological decomposition
Lab parameters — before vs after
Pre-treatment vs Liquid vs Powder (independently analysed)
Odour level — daily perceived intensity
5 = Very High · 0 = None. Field-recorded by site supervisors.

Before · After
Eight days separate these two photographs. The treated heap is shorter, cooler and supports early regrowth — visual confirmation of the biological breakdown measured in the lab.

Before & after — independent laboratory analysis.
| Parameter | Pre-treatment | After Liquid | After Powder | Best improvement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Height (inches) | 56 | 34 | 31 | −45% (Liquid) |
| Temperature (°C) | 42 | 43.5 | 54 | Rising temp = active decomposition |
| pH | 5.42 | 7.62 | 7.7 | Neutralised from acidic to neutral |
| Total Organic Carbon (%) | 34.1 | 27 | 10.6 | −69% (Powder) — genuine carbon breakdown |
| Total Nitrogen (%) | 0.72 | 0.6 | 0.6 | Stable — nitrogen retained |
| Phosphorus (%) | 0.54 | 0.35 | 0.31 | Phosphorus conversion active |
| Ammonia (mg/kg) | 100.3 | 19.6 | 20.5 | −80% — massive odour gas reduction |
| Hydrogen Sulphide (mg/kg) | 22.42 | 15.3 | 7.9 | −65% — odour gas reduction |
Ammonia reduced by 80%
The primary driver of foul waste odour has been almost entirely eliminated. Both Liquid and Powder perform within similar range.
Hydrogen sulphide reduced by 65% (Powder)
The 'rotten egg' gas — the most offensive component of waste odour — is dramatically reduced, confirming odour elimination is biological, not cosmetic.
pH shifted from 5.42 → 7.7
Untreated garbage is acidic. Enzyme treatment brings pH to near-neutral — a healthier, more stable waste environment that supports continued biological breakdown.
Total Organic Carbon reduced by 69% (Powder)
Nearly 70% of the organic carbon in the waste has been broken down — confirming genuine decomposition, not just odour masking.
C:N ratio reduced to 17.66 : 1 (Powder)
Ideal C:N ratio for mature compost is 10:1 to 20:1. Enzoclean Powder brought the ratio from 47:1 to 17:1 in 8 days — near-complete composting acceleration.
Both Liquid and Powder effective
Both formats delivered consistent results. Powder showed marginally stronger organic carbon and pH results; Liquid showed slightly stronger height reduction.
What this means in practice.
- Pile volume reduced by up to 45% in 8 days
- Odour eliminated in 30 minutes — not days
- pH normalised to near-neutral — safer waste environment
- Compost-quality parameters achieved — potential for waste-to-resource conversion
- Safe for workers and surrounding communities — 100% organic, no chemical residues
